Spliced Eye (S.E.)

Ideally suited for training scenarios. The over sized eye can be easily hooked over support beams or scaffolding to mimic a helicopter descent.

 

Standard Conical Termination (S.C.T.)

Designed by Marlow for use with a helicopter cargo hook. It is attached to the cargo hook using and bolt and split pin.

 

Multifit Termination (M.F.T.)

The new Multifit Termination (M.F.T) has been designed by Marlow to fit to a wider range of helicopter cargo hooks. The M.F.T features a 45mm machined eye allowing fast attachment and removal.

 

Dynalite Termination (D.L.T)

The new Dynalite Termination is a 12 strand construction rope manufactured from H.M.P.E. Dyneema and spliced through the end of the rope.

It offers a very light weight option which can be attached to most hoists.

In case of rapid deployment of troops it is also possible to detach the rope without the risk of injury to the personnel below or damage to the ship decks.

The weight and construction of the termination enables repeat usage (a close visual inspection of the termination is recommended before each use) as it is unlikely that the termination will suffer on landing.

 

Designed to deploy and retrieve personnel from dangerous situations by simply clipping themselves and their equipment to the loops with quick release karabiners.

F.R.I.E.S increase deployment and retrieval speed of airborne forces and reduces the risk of helicopter and personnel vulnerability. A group of up to 12 people (6 per rope) can be deployed or retrieved in 10 seconds using a two-rope system.

Kevlar /Twaron and Technora Abeil Rope

These ropes are Aramids that decompose at temperatures of 500 °C. They are used instead of Polyester in the cover construction for situations where extreme heat resistance is required. They should be used in situations requiring very rapid descents, where heat generated by friction can melt standard ropes.

They are also ideal for emergency escape systems where their heat resistance protects from fire.

The KevlarTM ropes retain the natural yellow appearance of the KevlarTM yarn.

The TechnoraTM yarn used in these ropes has a special black finish to satisfying Special Forces requirements.

All other aspects of the construction and performance of these ropes are the same as the Polyester Abseil Rope.

The K.E.R.R is a proven retrieval system developed in conjunction with the British Army to provide fast and effective armoured vehicle recovery. It allows for quick deployment without the use of a special recovery vehicle and is particularly suited to armoured vehicles in tactical situations.

The K.E.R.R works in the following way:

• One end of the K.E.R.R is connected to the trapped vehicle and the other to the towing vehicle.
• The towing vehicle then accelerates to a maximum speed of 16Mph (26kph) and snatches the rope with its total energy.
• The towing vehicle is slowed or halted, its kinetic energy is converted into the potential energy of the stretched rope.
• The rope transfers the kinetic energy to the trapped vehicle.
• After a slight pause the trapped vehicle rises free.
• If the vehicle is not freed by the first attempt the process is repeated.
• Once free, continued towing by the K.E.R.R is possible.
